Businesses have been using the case study method to convince their audiences about the efficacy of their offerings for years. It used to be a little difficult in the pre-internet era when there were none of the tools like the MS Office suite that is available today but marketing professionals always had their formats and processes in place, for a variety of case studies covering different subject areas. These generally begin with an explanation of the purpose for which they have been created and the focus is usually on success stories from the marketers’ point of view highlighting how a problem was solved successfully.
How case study examples make the impact
It’s not just new businesses but also those that are well established in the market that need to corroborate their success stories in convincing ways to their audiences. They may have excellent examples of handling a problem successfully but to compile all that into a neat and concise case study format would require review of similar studies to get an idea of how it is presented. However, new businesses need them a lot more than those that are established in the market. There’s no guarantee though, that a case study is a hundred percent guarantee for winning a customer.
Clients understand the marketer’s strengths
A case study by definition, compliments a marketer’s efforts at selling an idea to a prospective customer by presenting an example of how well his company has been able to handle a project which resembles the parameters of this customer’s project. Such case study examples will help the customer understand the strengths and capabilities of the marketer’s company and help him make a decision with regard to selecting the supplier or service provider, or shortlisting it with a few others. A good example of such a study is more a descriptive presentation about the critical areas of the project in question, thereby offering a clear perspective of the likely solutions.

Specific case studies cover the marketer’s specializations
Before setting out to work on a case study format, one needs to do some case study research to get an idea of the different types of studies that are used in various instances and across different industries. If it is about waste management systems in a polymer extrusion plant, the study would obviously focus on the way the plant uses the waste polymer. A good waste management system would ensure proper recycling of the waste polymer by either bringing it back in the production stream or ensure that it is transported to some other plant for producing something different.
